Well, it probably isn't hot enough to consider these the dog days of summer, but we're almost halfway through summer vacation! Things are so busy that I go a couple days between online sessions (sorry if I haven't read your blog lately or posted on Facebook....I just haven't been online! If it's that important, call me on the phone!)
I have declared 2009 "The Year of the Raspberry" since we've already picked gallons and made jam and frozen crushed berries for jam. Don't let the color fool you, but those yellow raspberries might be the best things on the planet. We were excited to have enough for jam. Usually we just eat them all but this year the bushes are very generous.

Speaking of jam, yesterday we had 6 different kids of homemade jam (yellow raspberry, blackberry, red currant, red raspberry, orange marmalade, italian plum) in our fridge. I think that might be a record.

The oldest Frugalgirl had a birthday and I let her have some friends over and they made some cute little flowerpots from the book Tiny Treats and then we made personal pizzas for dinner and then when the friends went home, the cousins came over and we had cake.

I've been sewing in stolen moments, and filling the freezer with pork. We split a hog with some friends. I also spend nights painting trim for the addition so Frugaldad can install it in the evenings and weekends.
a birthday present

shirt for mama

new clothes for the naked baby (who knows what I dressed his brother in at this age because there is a lack of hand-me-downs in the closet)

(I am in love with this kid, by the way. look how gorgeous he is!)

The summer still has lots in store for our family! I barely have time to catch my breath!
