sew busy

My girlfriends and I are playing a sewing stash game where we are trying to use up fabric without buying any. While I am pretty sure Jess is leaving everyone in the dust, I'm making an attempt to get some things sewn. My first order of business was to make it through my pile of mending, some of which had been sitting on my sewing table for a couple of years. Here's some jeans that had holes in the knees, turned into shorts. I used a wide ribbon to make a cheater hem; I stole the idea from Jessica at Balancing Everything. It is easy and cute and the girl wearing them is as pleased as punch.

I also am trying to get my garden in despite the thousands of weeds that would have otherwise.

The kids are on break from year-round school, so life never slows down around here.

Hmmm Is there a ribbon/material that would look super boyish? Can you think of anything off hand that would work for that type of hem?

been wondering that myself

I have been wondering that too because my oldest has some jeans that need done too. I am afraid that no matter the fabric, it would look too girly. Unless it was camo or something. Maybe that would work. Or twill tape? Cotton webbing? I guess you could add some extra looping and make them painter's shorts.
