I used to keep every card I received. But over time they began taking up more space than I was willing to give. So after purging my closet of generic notes without personal messages, I now only keep the really special ones (or give them to my 4 year old who loves to "read" them and really treasures them). I usually keep homemade cards to get new ideas for card making. But I don't see anything wrong with removing reusable embellishments. I'm sure the giver doesn't expect the receiver to keep the card forever (I certainly wouldn't) and isn't it better that at least part of it can be passed on to someone else who will also appreciate the thought?
I think it's just fine. I doubt the people that I send thank-you cards too are going to keep them forever and treasure them kwim? I hope it gives them a little joy and then I expect it to go in the trash. I don't see any problem with taking off the stuff you are going to re-use. There are cards that I will save though. Peter buys me great cards- doesn't make them, lol- and I save them because of the sweet words he puts inside them. If there is something written on the card that touched me I will save the whole thing for a while. So- my vote- yes take them apart! It's kind of like re-using gift bags right?
